Energy Efficient Appliances
We use up so much electricity everyday when we do different activities. Lighting alone can add much to our electric bill. With the proper lighting, such as the new compact ones, we can save energy and money. When it comes to appliances, we can also save much by using Energy-Star rated ones. If implemented correctly, you can save more than $1000 a year. This amount you can use for other more important things.
Our water heaters comprise most of the energy used in our homes. For bigger homes with more occupants, there is more energy wastage in terms of this. Heat inside the home can escape through the windows. So you must consider using Energy Star windows.
For washing your clothes, there are Energy Star washing machines which use between 18-25 gallons. You can save much on water consumption per load. When it comes to dishwashers, a typical one usually uses 12 gallons per load, which is actually hot water. Energy star dishwashers use less. Three gallons per load has a significant effect on your electric bill.
For heating of your home, you can use programmable thermostats. They do not cost much and can be programmed to heat the home, only when you are there or right before you get home. These can also be programmed to turn down the heat when you leave.
There are many other ways on how you can reduce energy consumption through your appliances. Assess your appliances now and check them properly. It might be wiser to buy new ones.
